Okay, volunteers I really need help. Our adoptions have been incredible and we are not able to keep up. I am taking in 7 new rabbits and 3 new guinea pigs and have 3 un-neutered rabbits here.

Saturday I am getting 3 guinea pigs from the MHS Westland. I don’t know why, but they decided to put them together which will make them almost impossible to adopt, but since they just did this we may have to separate them, we don’t know.

Saturday I am also meeting a lady from Monroe. Here is the note I got.

Another sad situation...
A desperate woman just called the sanctuary crying about having to
lose her rabbits because they lost their farm to the bad economy. Her
family (w/4 kids & a sick husband) is forced to relocate and they
will not be able to take her rabbits (one of which was just dumped on
her farm last week). They were all rescued, so it's not likely any
are altered, and, unfortunately, she cannot cover the cost for that
in her current financial situation.

She's had these ones for about a year, but doesn't know how old they
were when she rescued them:

Bunny 1:Male Netherland dwarf - auburn with white belly Will be neutered April
Bunny 2:Female Netherland dwarf - tan (but not solid coloring)
Bunny 3:Male black Polish
Bunny 4:Male lop (large) - gray & white

Bunny 5:The one someone she knew dropped off at her place last week was found
in a birdcage outside of a Kmart. She doesn't know the sex, but the
bun is a long-haired peach-colored mini-lop. She said at first she
thought she was an angora because the fur was so long and matted.
But the ears are definitely lop. She said this one needs a lot of
clean-up work; that s/he looks miserable.

They have neuter appointments at Parkway for 4 on April 21.

I have two coming from the rescue a New Leash on Life on April 14 fresh from their neuter at Parkway:

Bunny 7:Pez is a Dutch and

Bunny 8:Chester is a mini-rex.

Bunny 9:Little Miss and

Bunny 10:Summer Rose are grey mini-lop sisters who will be spayed on the 17nth

Bunny 11: Van small friendly white with tan spot up eared bunny left in a cage when they owners left in the back yard and noticed by the neighbor, ribs exposed and almost dead of dehydration. Neuter appointment April 14nth.

There is no way I can safely house 11 rabbits plus the guinea pigs I have.

As soon as they are healed, there are spaces at 3 stores for adoption reducing it to 8, but they still need to be someplace for 5 days for males and a week for females before being placed. I have volunteers to foster 2 and I can keep 3, maybe 4 here before I get too many to safely monitor. I also have to find a job which will severely reduce the time I have to take care of them. Emily Butler has been coming regularly to help me clean and yesterday I called Keri Tanner for some help and she graciously came over to help because since I got out of the hospital I have not truly recovered my strength and stamina and apparently will not for a while

If you can foster even just the ones that need only time to heal from their neuters PLEASE let me know. If you can take a pair of guinea pigs that frees up cages here so I can fill them with rabbits. Right now when a store calls we have not had any available for one to three weeks or more, so I accepted all I could get to try to keep this from happening. Several of the stores are placing literally within a couple of days. I need you guys now more than ever.

I am literally begging you to step up if you can help at all.

-----------------------------------------

Luckily, a wonderful lady Kathy came and put in weeks of volunteer hours over the holidays to organize and clean my garage. One thing that did not get done was an inventory of what we have. I could use a group of volunteers to come and look over what Kathy put in the storage cabinets we bought and count and label what is where. I also have had about another 8 cages donated that are still sitting in the garage, some not even cleaned yet.

I need a work bee to clean and collapse and put away the accessories. Then some cages need to be put into total setups from hamster to rabbit cages for us to try to sell with adoptions as complete starter kits.

I also need a volunteer to photograph and list the equipment on things like Craig’s list to try to sell them to reduce our inventory and raise some money. We can make it a pizza party, but we just cannot move forward without getting this done before the garage totally reverts to the mess it was before Kathy’s hard work. I know it is the events that are fun, but I am drowning in trying to keep up with all the neuter drop off and pick ups, surrender transportation, store deliveries, etc. I have some wonderful volunteers who are doing most of the work and keeping us up and running, but we need more.

These are the non-glamour jobs like Emily cleaning out cages, but MUST be done. If you can help please let me know and with some dates that work for you. Between my health, needing to get a job and trying to catch up with the backlog of paperwork there is a chance this will all fall apart and we are doing such good work with our wonderful stores that are helping place so many abandoned animals. If you cannot help with transportation that would also be incredible as this eats up hours and hours when I cannot get anything else done.

We had to cancel out last adoption event because not one volunteer stepped up to help, so if you do not want to be on the list, please let me know that too so I won’t bother you with email anymore.
